“Food brings people to the table. No matter where you’re from or your age, background, ethnicity, or religion, food is universal and needs to be shared,” says Thierry Meret, owner and founder of Cuisine et Chateau Interactive Culinary Centre. There is something magical about the uniting force cooking brings to people, and sharing that magic is what Thierry does best through an innovative business idea that includes teaching, catering and culinary tours. “Cuisine et Chateau for me is about pleasure. It’s pure fun,” Thierry says. “It’s sharing this whole world of food, history, culture and gastronomy.”
Thierry owned his own successful restaurant in Calgary for 10 years, eventually leaving to become an instructor at SAIT’s culinary school. After five years there, he realized there was another way he'd rather share his passion and opened Cuisine et Chateau Interactive Culinary Centre to offer catering and cooking classes. “The culinary centre is something between running a restaurant and being an instructor.”
