William “Pop” Kostiuck sought out Pat DeLuca in the late 1950s, after hearing about Pat’s excellent shoe-making skills. Working for Woodward's at the time, and just learning the English language, Pat explained to Pop that he didn’t just want to work for him—he wanted to be a business partner. The two men struck a deal.
Pat worked off his stake in the business and retired in 1999, leaving Expert Shoe Clinic in the hands of his capable son, Luigi DeLuca, who started working at the shop when he was eleven years old. He began working full-time in the family business right after graduating from high school.
