Lisa Pellett had already been a familiar face at this well established plus-sized women’s clothing store for three years before she took ownership in early 2014. As a loyal customer, Lisa started with a position on the passionate sales team at Lucy Clothing and eventually worked her way up to assistant manager. So when the founder of Lucy, Sonya, decided to sell, Lisa felt compelled to make the transition as seamless as possible for clients.
“After she approached the manager and myself about selling, I went home and spoke with my husband. I wanted to keep the store going and in the form that everyone knew. Being a plus-size store, there aren't that many out there and I’d hate for it to change,” says Lisa.
Lisa shares the vision and passion her predecessor had for the plus-size fashion industry and understands that curvy girls need clothes that help them celebrate their curves. “For the plus-sized curvy woman, shopping can be very frustrating," Lisa explains. "Department stores usually only go up to XXL, and many times stores say they carry extended sizes, but they don’t really go past a 1X, whereas we go up to a 24.”
