Petru Petrean has only two words of advice for eating at Texx Big Burger: arrive hungry. The owner of this popular Surrey burger shop specializes in mammoth-sized burgers that challenge the heartiest of appetites, with the smallest ones starting at slightly less than half a pound of meat.
But diners don’t come to Texx Big Burger to snack on the small sandwiches. Instead, they let their eyes lead and hope their stomachs can keep up. Petru wanted to be different from everyone else around him, so he used bigger buns and packed as much as he could between the top and bottom.
He also has another secret weapon to keep his burgers as enormous as possible. “I use very lean beef,” he says. “I use 86% because if it’s not lean, then when you cook it on the flat grill it turns into grease on the top, so you can’t really cook it right and it shrinks too much.” By sticking with fresh beef that’s extra lean and offering all toppings free, the size, taste and value of Petru’s burgers have become legendary in Surrey.
Food was pretty good, but my main complaint is the staff were pretty rude, they didnt say a word except for a half-assed thank you which made me feel like I was more of a hassle than a customer
