In the Net Loft Building on Granville Island, Fibre Art Studio offers the unique experience of watching five textile artisans work. Stepping into the studio, you’ll discover original, one-of-a-kind hand-woven tapestries by Barbara Heller; felted scarves, hats and jewelry by Helen Glazkova; elegant hand-woven scarves and shawls by Yoriko Oki; beautiful hand-woven blankets by Penny Stewart; and unique hand-knitted creations by Roz Winters.
Fibre Art Studio's stock is constantly changing and everything is made on the premises. “You’re not going to buy something here and then see it walking down the street on someone else,” smiles Barbara.
The studio also features baskets full of hand-dyed mohair, wool and cotton yarns – some hand-spun by the artisans – so you have the opportunity to create your very own handmade treasures out of natural fibres. “It’s really nice when customers come in and show us what they have made from our yarn,” says Barbara. “Being a small studio, we really get to know our customers and it’s always wonderful to see many of the same faces over and over again.”
