The food and service is always amazing!! You've got to try the benedicts...Like ALL of them! oh and the skillet and their coffee!
This is my favourite place to go for breakfast but the lunch is great to. I have never been disappointed with the food, I usually rotate between the classic, breakfast skillet, benedict, and fresh fruit crepe. The service is never bad but it is never great either. On weekends you will have to wait for a table but try to get there before 11 and it isn't a huge issue. Even if I do have to wait I spend the time deciding what I want so I can order right away.
Really, really good food and so many interesting breakfast choices. However the service is usually lacking and on a couple of occasions I've had really awful service but usually it's just mediocre. You pretty much always wait in line but I can't hold that against them because they clean table and get them re-sat promptly. A while back they were closed for remodelling and I had high hopes that they would do something about the crowded and awkardly placed tables (I was once sat infront of the door to their walkin fridge, I'm not sure why it's in the dining room but servers kept squeezing buy and going in and out). However, it looked pretty much exactly the same afterwards. So if you don't mind waiting and sometimes sitting uncomfortably close to the people at adjacent tables to get a great breakfast than give them a try. Oh and don't go for anything but breakfast, their lunch and dinner fare is meh.
We go regularly, and make sure to go before 9 to aviid the lines. It would be worth waiting for, but my young kids aren't patient souls when hungry. Never had an unpleasant experience, enjoy everything we have tried.Juice is great and well worth the price.
We usually go for breakfast here atleast twice a month. I love that they have so many different options for eggs benedict (the mexican one is my favorite). The servers do tend to take a while to come and top up coffee, but they have always been very polite.
This is our default for a great breakfast out. They are always consistant when we've been there and although I'm not a fan of the wait on occassion I'm always happy with the food and service. Jenny's our favorite!
I love their breakfast sandwiches. Monte Carlo sandwich is to die for! Try it. Their french toast is very good. The lineups can be pretty big/bad a lot of times on the weekend. I go early (~8-8:30am) and you can usually avoid it. More than average pricing, but the portions make up for it. try it!
Best Breakfast in town, there is something for everyone... even if you don't like eggs. The service is quick, but not pushy, and they don't try to get you out fast and make you feel uncomfortable like some breakfast joints in town. Fruit is always fresh Coffee is refilled before your glass is empty they know the difference between over easy, over medium and over well. They have lots of selection of benedicts, and crepes. recommendation - go early on the weekend before 10 or after 1pm or you will end up waiting a while. It's worth it but you might get hungry. Unless you don't mind sitting at the bar. Those spots clear way faster
I go to Eggcetera once every few months for breakfast with some friends. The line ups are horrible, and the place has way too crowded seating for my liking. However, food is usually on the table within 10-15 minutes. Portions are pretty moderate, not overly big. The only thing I ever get is the eggs Benedict, and it is made perfect every single time. The Mexican Benedict is also exquisite. The service is always mediocre. The waitresses are not overly friendly. I have never encountered polite or considerate servers there. I have tried their lunch menu and it is not as good as breakfast. Very plain. I will only ever go back for breakfast since it is so delicious.
A pleasant place to eat ,reasonable pricing I go there at least once a week fast friendly service the food is great we empty our plates every time they could increase portion sizes
Food was okay but the service was terrible!! waited 20 minutes for a coffee, mayby the waitress was having an off day? might try it again!
I think we made a mistake by going to Eggceteria for dinner as opposed to breakfast. You can just never get in for breakfast!!! Our server was really good, the food..not so much..and I know that I am going to get vilified here...but I had no idea that this was a FAMILY RESTAURANT at dinner time. Do not go for dinner unless you are OK with infants and toddlers screaming non-stop....I felt sorry for the children...I have no idea why people take their infants/toddlers out to restaurants for dinner...I'll just never understand it. The food was adequate..we all had panini's, nothing special..but it is licensed (thank god), and like I said, our server was excellent. We will not return but it was more the ambience at night than the food, to be perfectly honest.
The place was packed. The breakfast was good, but I did not like the homefries. They were mushy. The menu was fun. Tables were cramped and awkward.
What can I say, I love this place. Hands down, the best breakfast place in Guelph. IGreat portions (they are certainly not cheap with the bacon!), great coffee, and excellent ambiance. Their food and service is consistent with each visit. This place has a faithful following... so be prepared for a lineup. In reading a staff review of this place, its dissappointing to hear things behind the scenes are not as pleasant as it is from the customer's perspective. Part of me has a hard time it is THAT bad... seeing as most of the staff seem to have been there a long time. Always familiar faces looking after the crowd. I recommend this place most definately. I now live in Toronto and am terribly dissappointed they don't have a location in the GTA.
After order about $21.00 in food (before I could order my drink) we were informed that because we did not order two entrees we would be expected to pay $2.00 sharing charge. We then attempted to order another item for $2.00 but were still told the sharing charge would be applied. To add to the issue the waitress was not very polite. Finally we decided to take our food to go instead of paying the sharing charge and drink charges and were promptly told to go sit at the bar, after waiting in line for the table. So I requested to speak to the owner but he refused to come and talk to us. Basically after hiking the prices on the menu items and adding this sharing charge, the service was still rude and I will not return there.
Have eaten at this restaurant a number of times, and as always the food was great and the service was even better. Our waitress Jennie knows what we want before we are seated. The cost is in the average price range and the meals are certainly worth it. If every restaurant had staff as friendly and as accomodating as Jennie, that restaurant would be a success!!
Busy place for a weekday after 9:00 a.m. Food was very good, but the loud dining area and lacklustre service was most unpleasant. There was a party of 12 who all ordered water with their meal, perhaps they put a damper on the wait staff's attitude? Breakfast should be served with at least a hint of a smile, not downcast eyes.
We come to Eggcetera all the time and we love it. The prices are great and we actually can feed a family of 5 for under $70. That is value. The food is always very good and tasty and the service is almost always perfect. (Jeremy is great!) We come back again and again. My only complaint...we can never get in at breakfast, doesn't matter what day it is or what time...the place is packed. Obviously they are doing something right. I would suggest to the owners that they shake up the menu just a bit...maybe make some additions or changes just for the sake of variety??? Bring back the pasta specials! If you want a good place to eat, don't hesitate to come here. I highly recommend it.
The poor service and very surly wait staff are the drawbacks of this restaurant. As far as the food goes we all enjoyed our meals and would definitely eat the food again. It is unfortunate however that felt very rushed and were treated with a very condecending tone. The waitress did not seem to enjoy her job and seemed to be annoyed with all the patrons she had to serve. I think the service must be addressed in order to make this restaurant a place to truly enjoy. I have been there for several different occasions now, at several different times of day, and always seem to be disappointed with the service and attitude of the wait staff.
I can only comment on breakfast but this place is crazy busy everytime we go. The line-up extends out the door. Now it's not a huge place either so that could be the reason. The food is always great!!! No complaints - ever!
