“I’ve lived in a lot of different homes and people have always said to me no matter how ugly a house was, I made it look beautiful,” laughs Zoe Lucyk, co-owner of Lotus Home Interiors. “I never really thought about it, but it seemed I was pretty good at it so why not turn it into a career?”
This was the birth of the business Zoe runs with her husband Paul, a third-generation carpenter who has been working in the Port Perry and Oshawa area for years. “I went back to school in Durham to study design, then I started working with Paul,” says Zoe. “Now not only can he go in and redo your kitchen, he can pass on my services to help you design your kitchen, lay it out and pick finishes for the floors and counters.” Once they had begun, Lotus Home Interiors soon turned into a family affair with Zoe’s mom Kathleen as the store manager and son Anthony dealing with logistics.
