You'll start craving Ethiopian food!

I thought I hated Ethiopian after a bad experience at a place just down the street from Nazareth. Then I was dragged here. The food is fantastic. Four of us split two dishes (at only $7.99 a dish!) and couldn't quite finish---and then we came back a week later for more. Now I go for pick-up pretty often, as it's cheap and local and delicious. The place is tiny, which is the main drawback; there can be a long wait. But go on an odd night and you'll be fine---plus, it's worth the 30-45 minutes on the sidewalk, no question. I'm pretty wussy about spice, but I find the dishes to be just on my edge, which makes them challenging but fun to eat. And everything comes with salad and a ton of injera, so it's easy to soothe your stressed tastebuds. Overall? Best eating experience in the Bloorcourt neighborhood. Not to be missed.

Great Dining Experience

I have never tried Ethiopian ciusine before, and on a colleagues recommendation, I thought i would give Nazarath a try. I have to admit that i did do some research and read some of the reviews prior to going, as I was taking with me three other diners who needed a tiny bit of convincing to try a new type of cuisine. We found the food to be exceptionally flavourful, not overly spicy-hot but just right. Nazareth will even prepare to your tastes. One person at our table requested no heat at all, and she put her at ease by preparing a flavourful platter that she was able to eat without problem. I would definately go back. The coffee ceremony was a great way to end the experience, but remember to order at the time of your food order as the coffee is roasted while you eat. There was even some impromptu entertainment on the night we went, as it was someone's birthday and nazareth recognized that individual with some Happy Birthday music and dancing on the spot. It was quite fun! The only thing that was unfortunate for my party of four was having to wait out on the sidewalk for 40 minutes because the restaurant was full. There are only 4 tables! But I guess when the food is this good, you just suck it up and wait. I'll be back!

Nazareth is the best Ethiopian restaurant in...

Nazareth is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Toronto by far (and I've been to many)! Nazareth is an amazing lady who both cooks and serves - you won't find more friendly service anywhere. The food is authentic Ethiopian, delicious and very inexpensive. The atmosphere is intimate with only 4 or 5 tables and the walls are covered with Ethiopian art. I have been going here for almost 2 years and continue to be a regular. I highly recommend this place - definitely a jem!
