It's an extremely busy place at lunch time. We've been there for dim sum several times. The ideal time is between 2:00 and 3:00 as the lunch crowd has thinned significantly, but there's still lots of food selections available. I've never been for dinner or breakfast, so I can't speak for the quality of service, or food at those times, but every dim sum meal I've had there has been exemplary. Don't expect a great deal of communication, but then, it's not really necessary; it's dim sum, just point at what you want. In fact, you need to avoid meeting the eyes of cart pushers if you're full. Put the teapot on the edge of the table with the lid askew to indicate you want more. The prices always amaze us; we have a full meal there and it hardly ever amounts to much on the bill.
I think that this restaurant is amazing. I've gone there ever since i was a little girl and i've always loved it. The service may not be anything special considering most servers don't speak a work of english. But the service isn't what i'm there for. I'm there for the good, which i think is the best. I've tried lots of other places and none of them even compare to this one. It's a winner!
This restaurant isn't known for it's service but so are the ways of a busy Chinese restaurant. I never found this to be much of a problem though. Get there before noon or else the place will be jampacked and you might get jostled around a bit at the door. That might not happen to you if you're taller than say... 5 feet (hehehe, just kidding, they're not THAT small) And looking like you would give someone a knuckle sandwich if anyone approaches you might help with the personal space thing too. It's quite loud and not the most sanitary in the loos but I didn't mind. Food was great and I'll likely be coming back with more guests. Good for a healthy population of twenties inside your wallet too.
I think it's kind of funny how all the Asian people rate it high and other nationalities don't lol. I have gone here since I was a kid and it will always have some of the best dim sum in the city. Service is not good for people who don't speak Chinese. Washrooms are not clean but maybe it's because Im Asian or that I speak Chinese but the food is great!??! Yum yum cha!
Generally the food was good particularly the fish, lobster, jelly fish, crab ball but not the soft noodles, the fried rice or the noodle that was served towards the end of the meal. The only reservation that I have is the place is not so clean. We will come back and try the dimsum one of these days.
